There is a category of outdoor lovers that would like to unite with nature but at the same time to feel comforts of staying home. That is why the state parks in Minnesota started providing campers with a new sort of shelters. You will have a chance to feel all the benefits of staying in a tent combined with comfort of a cabin. These shelters are usually known as yurts. These yurts have a Mongolian style and seven of them are presented in three of Minnesota’s state parks.
Campers will be able to reserve them within several weeks and the developer of this project is considered to be the Department of Natural Recourses. These yurts are rather typical to nomadic tribes in Mongolia. They usually have a frame made of wood covered with a water resistant fabric on top. These shelters were supposed to be set up and taken down as those tribes were moving a lot from one place to another across the Goby desert. Thanks to the Department of Natural Recourses, these Mongolian style yurts will be open to public to enjoy.
The cost of reservation per night can range from $50 to $55. There is no difference if you are reserving a camping site or a yurt. They all have wood floors and it is a great chance to enjoy the beauty of nature without sleeping on the ground in a tent. These yurts will also be equipped with wood stoves and campers will have a chance to heat the shelters when weather conditions are bad.
As a result any camper will be able to have a rest at night in a warm place and will play hard at day time. If you like the idea, you can easily make reservations online and you will have a chance to spend as much time as possible without getting tired from nasty weather.
Besides the two yurts at Afton State Park, there are five others around the state: Two at Cuyuna Country Recreation Area near Crosby and three at Glendalough State Park in Battle Lake.
